Students often work at the stations in our room. These stations change weekly. This student is using her imagination to build with Legos. After she finishes, she and I write about what she has made. It is great for both oral and written language.
Students met with EMTs and were able to go inside of an amubulence to learn about its parts.
Our theme for CES this year is: Stand up to Bullying. Fourth and fifth grade students participated in Youth Frontiers and played games, sang songs, and discussed how to treat one another. (This is probably the best picture EVER!)
These boys finally filled up their math chart! By completing daily math activities each student added their initials to the chart - when it was full they agreed and chose a reward to play Monkey-in-the-Middle!
This student followed the visual instructions and used K*Nex to build this little bug-thing! He was so proud!
Here an aide helps a student practice fire safety by using the motto - Stop, Drop, and Roll!
Students spent half a day in October learning about fire safety. They sure enjoyed their time!
Students were making their own book in the day's writing lesson. They wrote about what makes them happy at school, and what actions are appropriate.
Students earn points to their crowns when "Mrs. Green" catches them using home-row and sitting up straight.
Students pose with "Mrs. Green" after a typing lesson.
This student earned a piece of candy by filling up his homework sticker chart. He pointed out that both his shirt and candy had pictures of Tom & Jerry!
Students were using stilts in special gym on picture day.
At the beginning of every math lesson, we hold a math meeting. We count and build numbers, discuss the day of the week, and chant or sing special math songs.
This student loves to be read to and enjoys his special 1-1 time.
In the book that a student read, the characters excanged shoes. It was his idea to exchange shoes in real life, just as the girls in the story had done. This was a great text-to-self relationship and made for a memorable moment!
At the stations, sorting is often a skill that is used.
